Announcements from Diamond PTA

Welcome back to school from the Diamond PTA! The PTA serves as a valuable resource to families and school staff. Each week all parents in our directory will receive our newsletter which highlights news, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and community resources – so please make sure your information is in our directory! We hope this info helps you stay connected with all that is happening at Diamond and in Lexington! As always, please feel free to contact us at if you have any questions, or check out our website at

Thank you
Many thanks to Viki Deardorff and Lisa Sharma, our PTA hospitality chairs, for planning the luncheon for the teachers and staff last Monday, and for providing coffee for the first Principal Coffee on Thursday.
If you are interested in being part of the hospitality committee, please email and we will connect you with Viki and Lisa!

Diamond School Store - Parent Volunteer Opportunity

The Diamond Store, organized and staffed by parent volunteers, is open every day during lunch blocks to sell school supplies. Working there is a fun and easy way to connect with students and teachers, to meet new parents, and of course, to spot your own offspring!

The two-hour shifts are Mondays to Fridays from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM.  Volunteers work in pairs, and have a shift every 4 to 6 weeks, usually on the same day. That makes about 5 shifts throughout the year. New volunteers are paired with experienced ones to learn the (very simple) store procedures.

Please contact Kelly Littlewood, Volunteer Coordinator, at with the shift that works for you (for example. Monday or Wednesday only; no Thursdays; flexible). If you would like to work with a specific partner who can work the same day as you, include your partner's name/email and I will do my best to accommodate your request.  Please respond as soon as possible as this is a very popular volunteer opportunity and shifts fill up quickly.

Diamond Directory

The Diamond Student Directory is a school-wide resource that enables families to contact each other, and allows the PTA to email you weekly newsletters and other school news & event details. By providing your contact information, you can be sure that you will stay informed throughout the year.  Even if you do not want your information published in the directory, you must have an email address in our system to receive the daily announcements, weekly newsletter, and other electronic PTA communications. When you confirm your information in the online directory, you may choose whether or not to display it in the online and print versions of the directory.

Returning Diamond families and 6th grade parents from Estabrook, Hastings, and Fiske should have already received an email to update their information in MySchoolAnywhere. New families and those coming from non-feeder schools should go to and enter our invitation code: Diamond. You will be taken through a step-by-step process to enter your family’s information. If you have any questions, please contact us at

After you have entered or updated your information in the Student Directory, you will have the opportunity to make your Annual Donation to the PTA. You can learn more about supporting the PTA here

Community Announcements

Lexington Education Foundation (LEF) brings the community together to build, sustain and celebrate the excellence of the Lexington Public Schools. The volunteer-run nonprofit organization raises financial support from families and businesses in Lexington to fund exceptional educational activities that address the Lexington Public Schools' priorities but fall outside the scope of the LPS budget. Every year LEF supports educational innovation in all nine of our public schools. Last year, LEF awarded the equivalent of $35 for every student, funding 39 grants that enabled more than 175 LPS staff to pursue their passion for educating our children. Thanks to recent grants from LEF, there are now robotics programs in all nine schools; Spanish, French, Mandarin and German classes have been enriched with new materials; and LEF continues to support LPS's efforts to reduce student stress and build stronger communities. Learn more about LEF's impact and ways to get involved by visiting, or contacting our school's LEF representative at
